Well…Daddy headed back to work today which meant that Hannah and I resumed our normal “at home” work routine. We loved having Nate home with us for Christmas break, especially after his very hectic work schedule this past fall. And Hannah sure let Daddy know that she was glad to have him home! He got lots of hugs and kisses, as well as, lots of “Dadadadada!!!’s” when he would walk out of the room (she was either yelling at him for leaving or begging him to come back).
But, we are excited to be back into our routine as well. We had a busy morning with 3 visitors already! This afternoon, we are headed to Chatham for a playdate with Andrew. Hannah’s social schedule keeps us on our toes at all times! We are working on figuring out where to store all of Hannah’s new birthday and Christmas toys. I had cleaned out her toy baskets before both events (thanks to the knowledge I gained from shows like Mission Organization and Clean Sweep), but there are sooooo many new toys to find homes for!
Nate is back to work and Hannah is back to playing and I am back to being busy with church activities. I have a meeting tomorrow, Baptism Class Thursday, our *Snow Much Fun* Women’s Movie Night that I’m in charge of Friday night, church on Saturday, Preschool Board on Monday night, and I’m teaching the RCIA class on Tuesday night. They might as well just set up a cot for me in the office…I’ll practically be living there! But that’s okay because I love being busy and having things to do! Never a dull moment in our house!
Well…that’s it for today. I tried to take a picture of Hannah in her new rocking chair this morning, but the camera battery was dead. So no photo for today’s post. Maybe later this week! Have a good Monday! : )

Today, we took Hannah and Andrew to get their pictures taken with Santa at the mall. Amy and I had been preparing the babies for some time now. When we would go for walks at the mall (yes…we have become mall-walking mommies) we would walk past Santa and say “There is Santa! Wave hello!” Each time, we would get closer and closer hoping that when the moment came to actually put the kids on his lap they wouldn’t cry and scream.
Well…today was the day. We got dressed up, bundled up to keep warm, and headed to the mall. Unlike the other times we were at the mall where you could walk right up to Santa, there was a line at least 50 people long today. But…it moved quickly and we brought Cheerios to help pass the time.
Finally, we got up there and Andrew went first. We warned the photographer to take the picture quickly since we were sure Andrew was going to cry (I mean…he doesn’t even like Nate…so him liking Santa was a long-shot). Andrew did GREAT! And being sneaky…as soon as the picture was taken, we threw Hannah up in Santa’s arms too for a cousins picture. Another great one! Hoping we weren’t pushing our luck, we quickly removed Andrew and left just Hannah. She wouldn’t smile, but she didn’t cry. Another good picture! Whew! Check another thing off our Christmas “To Do” list!

Oh boy…did we have fun trying to take pictures for Christmas cards this weekend! Okay, it was kinda fun, but a lot harder than last year! Now that Hannah has a mind of her own and is VERY mobile, getting her to stay put for pictures is almost impossible. We discovered that at her 12-month pictures at Target on Friday. Then Saturday morning, we decided to take pictures for our Christmas cards (which of course, are NOT done yet, but oh well!). Hannah was a good sport, but kept moving, so all of the pictures were blurry. We finally got a few good shots and sent them off to Walgreens. Now…I just have to find time to do our Christmas letter, stuff envelopes, do stamps, and get them in the mail! Oh…and it’s only 10 days until Christmas! *Sigh!*

We had Hannah’s ‘Springfield’ birthday party yesterday at my parent’s house. We are doing two small parties this year for her birthday. We invited my parents, Amy, West, Andrew, Rich, Meredith, and Adrian. It was a nice size group, which made it fun for Hannah instead of overwhelming. Since there aren’t really very many “games” you can play with babies, we decided to let Adrian, Andrew, and Hannah play for awhile…which they all LOVED!
Then we let Hannah open her presents, which she thought was very cool. We definitely didn’t have to teach her how to open presents…she ripped right into them! When she would finish one, she kept reaching around for new presents to open. Granted…like most one-year-olds…she liked the boxes, tissue paper, and bows as much as the toys. But you could tell from her smile (and the fact that she hasn’t put them down)…that she loved all of her presents.
Then we got to the cake…the pinnacle of first birthdays and Hannah wanted nothing to do with it. She touched it a few times and took maybe one or two bites and then she was done. I guess our healthy eating lifestyle has rubbed off on Hannah. Oh well…we did manage to get some cute pictures. Hannah had a great time and that’s what counts, right!?! I’ll try to get some pictures up as the week goes on and we do her actual birthday celebration on Wednesday and her Peoria birthday party next Sunday.
